Auto body sanding tools?

I do not have an air compressor large enough to use my pneumatic duel-action sander. Looking at buying an electric sander. Are random orbital sanders alright? Is there a certain rpm the sander needs to be at? I was told to only use duel action sanders when sanding a car but I see lots of people using orbitals. I’m an engine guy and have no prior knowledge to body work so I need some help. Thanks

Depends what your doing. Sanding down the side of a fiberglass body car, use an inline sander, because it will keep it a little more even and straight. Otherwise, use any kind of sander you want (belt sanders are NOT recommended).
